First, I acknowledge that I'm extremely privileged to have had the space and money to do the following.

I have slowly been putting together my at home work out space.

Before this all started, I had made myself a pylo box for practicing at home.

It started with cleaning out the back corner of the basement with equipment on loan from Crossfit Ares.

I bought some rubber coated eva mats to protect the floor and weights from each other.

In May I got lucky and found a 300lbs weight set in stock. This was shortly before I would have to return the loaned equipment, so the timing was great. I love the set, except that I would like some bumper plates to know where correct height to pull from is and the bar is a 45lb bar. Because of my bad knee, I can't do overhead squats with that much weight.

In early June I bought some stick on carpet squares for the concrete wall. They don't stick perfectly, but they went up quickly and mostly stick and I really love the surface for all sorts of things that I need the wall for (wall walks, hand stands, wall stretches.)

I also paid more than I would have normally for an adjustable kettle bell. Up until that point I had some dumbbells that were of various unmatched weights and only went up to 22lbs. It was nice to have a heavier option. I am quite pleased with the adjustable kettle bell other than it's price.

Also in early June I ordered a lot of eva foam mats for a basic floor and moved the large shelf that was near the area.

In mid June I put up some plastic to keep dust from the shop out and bought studs for a future wall.

In late June I got a rack. I"m very pleased with the one I got even given the extra price. I've already needed the squat safety arms. I like that I can convert it to dips and I love the weight storage. I also like having a pull up bar that I can swing on with great stability.

I also got these cool LED light bulbs that screw into a standard socket, but make the socket look like a surface mount light fixture to replace the harsh bulbs and basic sockets.

In early July I got lucky and got some (more expensive than I was hoping) adjustable dumbbells. I had to wrap their handles because the plastic would get slippery when I sweated and it's a bit a of a draw back that you can't put your weight on them for dumbbell push ups or renegade rows, but it was nice to have some weight options (up to 55lbs each) for dumbbells.

In August I finally decided I couldn't get a cheaper option for the ceiling tile I wanted and bought 120 sq. ft. of plank tile. It's fragile stuff, so I've been putting it up very slowly. I just finished the main section about 2 days ago. I also bought some paneling to put over the end bulkhead wall.

I got a foam roller, abmat and some gymnastics rings.

Early September, I put up my aerial mount in the basement. It's too short to do most things, but I can hang upside down and practice a few things, including my spinning, which I'm still so bad at. It doesn't take much to make me feel over spun.

In mid September, I padded my rack with a $5 yoga mat so that I could practice anchored situps for my taekwondo fitness test. I also got some cheap pushup bars.

I cleaned out the back corner and added some cheap shelves. I upgraded my SD mp3 player to a slightly nicer one.

That's most of what I want. I do want to finish the ceiling, put in walls. I might get a interval wall clock if I can get one cheaply enough. I would still love some bumper plates and some slightly better storage for certain things. I'm sure there are a few more things I'll get.

I don't really view this as a bad thing to set up, even when things get back to normal. I will give me a space to practice skills I want to work on, such as box jumps, hand stands, and weighted squats, even if I won't be doing full workouts. Things are also not going back to normal any time soon.

------

In addition, over the summer I also took an old box that I got at a garage sale and made a Dominion multi-set storage box.

And made a little diffuser screen for my aerogarden.

Wow! I'm really impressed with the continuous evolution of the gym space. That looks really fantastic.

Ahhhh this is the kind of set up I dream of! I love it!

I've wanted to get a rack or cage for the longest times but our basement in MA has 6'6" ceilings, so exercising of any kind pretty much isn't possible in there. And the new place in CO only has one small room for the basement...with an approximately 6'6" ceiling. SIGH.

I am wondering if I can cram it into the spare bedroom here in CO, where did you source your floor mats?
