random things

I always find coming back to my journal a very useful thing, so this post is going to be BORING, but I want to make an attempt to post form time to time.
Kaylee: We continue to give her subcutaneous fluids. It does seem to improve her appetite and she doesn't hold a grudge, but she also doesn't like being still that long. I stabbed myself trying to make sure the needle was on right. At least it was a sterile needle.
Cars: I've decided I don't want to deal with a ~6-8k battery replacement cost on the c-max, so I plan to replace it before the warranty is up in 2025. I really want to get an EV, but there are very few small affordable options. I'm starting this early because I know that car companies are loving this "futuristic" look and also they they're making EVs more costly in general. There was a great car that stopped being made in 2021, for example. One of our front runners will get an "update" in 2024 that I really hate, so I have to eliminate that before they stop being available for order (since dealers seem to not carry the lowest level trim.)
Every car I have ever bought stopped being made a year or two later. I HATE that the US is so obsessed with SUVs. In fact one of the front runners is labeled an SUV for, as far as I can tell, no reason at all. There is nothing SUV-ish about it. What I'm learning is how I use a car seems to just be different, even from my friends. I'm finding it very hard to find out what features I depend on are actually available because most reviewers just don't care about those things. They care about "fun" and "hard plastics."
Sometimes I love being weird and an outlier. Sometimes I hate it. This is one of those times.
I'm glad I'm starting early, but it's requiring a LOT of research to find out the things I need to know.
