three anti-racist things
Aug. 8th, 2020 10:37 amOne the weekends the Anti-racism daily email list answers questions from the community. I often find those questions and answers good food for thought.
I have been reminded of NPR's show "code switch" and I need to check out more episodes. I only listened to part of the music episode, so I don't know what I think about it yet.
In a few places I've recently run into the concept of anti-blackness. It's not a hard concept to follow, but I've never thought about it specifically. In one instance it was brought up in the context of a space that was specifically for Black people to voice their stories and one voice was politely asking that the space remain Black only so it could focus on anti-blackness. Specifically it asked "Do you believe there is value in focusing on the specificity of antiblackness and how it (along with intersecting forms of marginalization) shapes our experiences? (For that matter, do you understand what antiblackness is and what distinguishes it from racism?)"
