gold stars
Jan. 19th, 2009 04:18 pmWe learn, in our youth, that we do things to get things, grades, stars, etc. In life, we do things for money, sometimes, but the money we get doesn't actually corrilate one for one with what we're doing or how well we're doing it. Sometimes we also do things for fun, not for money.
I think life needs more gold stars. It should be social acceptable for giving a friend a gold star for being there when you need them, or when someone says something particularly point, or when someone adds a smile to your day.
It wouldn't work, so maybe we need to change how our schools work.

I think it was Gandhi who said, "Be the change you want to see in the world." Of course, I'm not so sure how this reconciles with your plans to be more like Bad Horse.
