When I was in South America we stayed at a town campsite where the showers were a weak trickle of cold water. You'd think that it would make taking a shower as short an affair as possible, but no. By the time you gingerly wet your body, one limb at a time (cold!!) and then soaped your hair with the crappy local shampoo, then rinsed hair in the trickle of water (taking care not to get your body in in (due to coldness), the whole thing had taken about 15 minutes. Contrast this with my high-pressure hot water at home, where I can shampoo, soap and shave my pits in about 8 minutes.

It's all about the long hair. I'd probably be 5 minutes faster without it.

I probably am in the 3-7 minute range for actually water-on time but I turn it off for about 5 minutes in the middle to soap my body and let the conditioner soak in my hair. I only leave the water on during this if it is really super cold in the room or I'm using a shower where getting the temp adjusted right is a real pain in the ass.

Oh god weak water pressure is the worst thing ever for those of us with long thick hair. I actually ask the owners of vacation rentals we're considering how their water pressure is.

I answered for when I'm washing my hair, since that's the kind of shower I prefer. On weekdays I usually don't wake up early enough and not washing my hair cuts me down to 3 to 7 minutes (from 12 to 20).

I'm 15 minutes with washing my hair, and 5-7 minutes without. Low water pressure takes longer.

if I am washing my hair, the hot water can run out, since I usually find other things to do while letting the conditioner set for a while. (i.e., shaving, maybe using the salt scrub thingies people sometimes buy me as gifts.) At the gym, I will quickly condition, put my hair up, lather and rinse my bod, and then use the spa, come back and sometimes shave, use up fancy skincare gift, then rinse out conditioner.

Generally, at home I usually take as short a shower as I can, so, no hair washing, just wet, lather, rinse... usually in ~5 minutes.

low water pressure usually increases time, since it takes longer to make sure no part of me is still soapy.

I've never timed myself, but my guess is that I take about 7 minutes if I'm not washing my hair and about 12 if I am.

Add a minute or two for chemically softened water, since everything still feels soapy when I'm done.

I might be borderline between 3-7 and 7-12. Nearly always less than 10, at any rate, because I finish before the 10 minute fan timer runs out. Includes washing my hair, but that takes much longer with weak water flow.

I definitely use showers as a temperature vacation, which I know I probably shouldn't. But in the winter, nothing feels better than hot water. And in the summer, nothing feels better than chilly water. I've been taking all my showers cold for the past few weeks now.

But as Nathan said, I cut back by several minutes when I switched from long to short hair.

I only run the hot water out in the winter. In the summer I take cool showers, but given time will take more than one/day. Sweat is icky.

Urr, I want 20<x<40 && isHotWater(). No hot water makes for a *rapidly* shorter shower. :)

Assume for the purposes of the poll that there is enough hot water to last as long as the answer you choose. I just provided the last as most people's "infinate." I should have considered people who have just-in-time water heaters.
