Firefox has this annoying thing on my machine. If you click into a text field and don't wait, the first few characters will be eaten by the browser and not the text field. In the most innocent of times, this means that I just have ords ith o irst etter. But when I'm pressing back space, it does to my page history which is REALLY ANNOYING. Does anyone know how to stop this from happening or even why?

Nope! That's been happening to me for a while now.

The only thing I've found to mitigate it ever-so-slightly is to turn off caching in memory via about:config.

I *almost* wish IE could be ported to linux to give Firefox some competition.

IE was on Solaris for a while. It was truly wretched.

What about Opera? It runs on Linux and I hear it's pretty good...

Something worth keeping track of with FX is: If your Tools->Downloads menu gets too full, the whole program slows down. Use 'clean up' at the bottom of that dialog to empty it and see if that helps.
