I don't own a scale, but weigh myself every time I go to the gym. The digitial scale lets me obsess over my exact weight down to the tenth of the pound. *sigh*
The nice part is that I've been losing weight, so weighing myself at the gym usually makes me happy. The less nice part is when I gain back a few pounds temporarily and I get to obsess over them.
But, since the trend is overall in the right direction, it's mostly a good thing.
I don't think of it as a bathroom scale, as I've never had it in the bathroom.
My settings seem to be "weigh myself every day" or "weigh myself twice a year and be shocked and saddened by the numbers". I would love to have a "weigh myself once a week" setting, but I don't seem to be able to do that; it's apparently all or nothing with me.
At the moment I'm weighing myself every day and charting the numbers on a spreadsheet, so I'm mostly concerned with the seven day average.
I usually weigh myself daily at a consistent time (morning) and then chart the data so that I can see trends. That way small bumps up or down aren't a big deal but I can feel progress one direction or the other over time. (Sadly, my progress of late as been in the "wrong" direction. :(
I don't own a scale. sometimes, what gets me to the gym is neurotic desire to know my weight, sometimes hot tub, sometimes even genuine desire to work out. seriously.
