Material babbling

forgotten_ariaI was going to buy a three muffin maker but the price went up to $40, which I think is too much. Maybe the price will go back down.
The big material babbling, however, is that I found out recently that my now ~3 year old digital camera acts like ISO 100 film and modern cameras in my price range act as ISO 400, so I decided that my birthday present to myself (several months from now) will be a new digital camera. I went to microcenter and saw the Canon SD300 (I've been so happy with my canon, I decided why change brands.) The problem is it uses SD cards and I have a pile of CF cards, so now I have to decide between the SD300, which would require me to buy a new card and is only 4MP (which, given I've been using 2.1MP, shoudl be fine) or the S500, which is larger and doesn't have as fast a processor, but is 5MP and uses CF cards. I think the sexier, smaller SD300 will win out. Maybe by the time it's actually time to buy it, there will be some deal that will lead me one way or the other.
I'm sure there are other things to conserder too, but I have time to discover them.
Anyway, this is all good material babbling. I'm enjoying discovering what's happened to digital cameras in the past 3 years. The SD300 has a movie mode which is only limited by the space on your card and 1MB SD cards are affordable, though I will likely go witht eh 512MB. Once again, since I've been using a 256MB and not been finding it at all constraining, that should be just fine.
It's nice to have a goal, even if it's a silly one, and one that I can have the patience to wait for.
