paper mache hates me

I always imaging paper mache to be a fun, quick thing, suitable for young children. It's a messy, long term thing, that hates me personally. I've spend 48 hours putting 4 layers on this thing, and it's still all floppy and drys SO slowly. It's amazingly frustrating and once it's done I'll have to put four million laters of paint to get a nice smooth surface.

Tomorrow I'm trying a different recipe to see if I can't get some stiffness, rather than the rubberiness I'm getting now. Or maybe it's just time to whip out the expoxy.

the fact that we're at about 100% humidity i'm sure is not helping at all. paper mache works much better in the winter :)
