I do not know if I like the painting or not, but am leaning toward thinking it is good. The image makes me feel uneasy.
I like the blues, the strong contrast between the dark arms and the pale regions, the shadowing behind the waist, and the overall posture and expression. But something seemed odd, and it took me several minutes to figure out what.
I'm unsure what effect you were trying to achieve, but here is the feeling I get from it. The space between the eyes seems "wrong", too large, as if her right eye is drifting off the face. The hands give me the impression they are holding the eye, not merely cupping around it, and could move the eye off in any direction. This is an eerie effect, and is probably what is causing me to feel uneasy. If that was the effect you were looking for, then well done.
It isn't the original intent, but I definately noticed it in the finished peice. Yes the eye distance is very wrong and there is definately the effect of her removing her eye. I think that it adds more to the peice than the realizism I was hoping for would have.
