The following is pretty boring and ignorable.
So I waffled about the futon chair/love seat thing, price, dealing with mail order places, and then went to sleep-a-rama and they had the one I wanted for cheaper than internet, though still kind of costly for someone so cheap as me. I got it, brought it home, but didn't like how the twin matress wouldn't cascade over the back, so I spent today and yesterday turning the twin matress into a split twin, since you can't return matresses and I didn't want to fork over another $250 for a split twin matress. Turns out that size is kind of rare and hard to get a cover for, but I have one ordered, for only a little more than I was hoping to pay.
When I first got it, I was elated, now, tired from all the hand sewing, I'm no longer sure if I did the right thing. My feet don't touch the floor when I sit on it. I kind of wish I'd gotten a thinner matress too. The guy was trying to talk me up to an 8". I still love the frame completely. Hopefully what I'm currently feeling will not grow into regret.
