The transit connect drained its battery again, even though I was being fairly good about driving it every two weeks. It might have been longer, but no longer than a month. We put a trickle charger on, partly because I wanted to be focused on other things this week. The trickle charger said "bad battery" but that could be because of whatever parasitic draw that is killing the battery is and not the batter itself. I did notice that the auto engine stop was not working, however, so I think more likely the battery has been damaged by whatever is happening. This will be the second battery in 4 years.

Apparently this is not uncommon, so I'm trying to get up enough spoons to phone ford and find out if they have a fix. There was a post that said they might have a software update that puts the car in a "deep sleep," but I don't know if that applies to my vehicle.

I drove the vehicle not far and it worked fine. So I can definitely ignore this problem for at least a few weeks.

As a side note, this made me look up the mechanic who replaced the battery in 2022. Apparently he died of a motorcycle accident last month. I mention it mostly because it's been hard to process. I met him once for maybe an hour, but I think the world lost a good person.
