Running continues to be a horrible thing for me mentally. Over the winter I lost all progress I made last year (maybe even more) and the hot weather is making it a bear to train. I've also always hated "relearning" things, repeating progress, so it's even harder to motivate myself, even though I know I should be able to train up again (weather permitting.) I think I'm officially behind where I was last year at this time, which has me really worried. The test has been reworked, but it's just as tight for me as it was last year.
Today I couldn't keep my intervals AND I started to hate myself, hate my body and cry.
Sunday is scheduled to be cooler, so I hope to try to do 2 miles as a hope that it will make the 1.5 a little easier (and to make up for the fact I did only 1 mile on a very hot day.)
I should likely go back to the c25k program again, rather than just trying to do the intervals that worked for the test last time.
It also pisses me off every time people say "1.5 miles in 18 minutes, (you/I) can just speed walk that." No I F-ING can't!

Oh sure, yeah, I'd love to see those people do that. In this heat, in my condition, on my 15 mile runs, I'm averaging 12 min/mile pace, which is the same pace.

This heat is no joke. Do not make the mistake of comparing your times in this weather to when it's in the 70s or cooler. That's not comparing apples to oranges, it's comparing apples to 3rd generation Americans living in Georgia circa 1820.
At least for me, I have to constantly remind myself: try easier.

Date: 2018-08-09 06:53 pm (UTC)There's a reason why I've been trying to drag myself out of bed super early on Saturday and be on the road by 6:30am. Even 7am is ughhh. 6 would be even better, but I am slow at starting, so getting up at 5am just makes me blah.
