Anyone know of a wine shop in the area that might import mead from the UK? It's Moniack Mead and it is SO GOOD. I can get it in Canada, but because of the scary way the border is these days, I don't plan to be in Canada anytime soon.

There is a UK shop that sometimes will ship to the US, but they charge about $40 shipping.

[personal profile] sauergeek has sung the praises of Julio's for having a fabulous selection. If you'd rather check places closer to the city first, he sugges trying Cambridge Wine & Spirits at Alewife, Ball Square Liquors, Hopsters Alley in the Boston Public Market, and/or Brookline Liquor Mart.

Julio's is one of the best liquor stores I've been to; it's definitely the best one I've been to in Massachusetts. But it's out in Westboro, which is a fair hike for mead.

I've had a look at their online shop. I can say with fair certainty that what's in the online shop is not even close to what they have on inventory in the physical store. If you want to find out if they have Moniack, or can get it, calling ahead should give you a definitive answer. My experience with their staff is that they're all quite clued. If one person doesn't know where something is, or whether they have it, they'll hand you off to someone who does.

Another thought for a closer-in place that might have it is Downtown Wine and Spirits in Davis Square. You could also check out Martignetti's on Soldier's Field in Brighton.
