I love my car, mostly. The biggest gripe I have about it right now is it LOVES to turn the A/C with out my permission. Yes I know the window will defog faster with it on, but sometimes blowing air is good enough and I'd like to save on gas milage, please.

EDIT: I still remember the days when you could spray fluid and not have it wipe. I guess it is just a sign of the times. *sigh*

Mine's climate control system also thinks it's smarter than me. Guess it's just a sign of the times :(

Cars don't let you just spray fluid anymore?

Man, I am *not* buying a new car.

I got this "improvement" forced on me in the mid 90s. What are you driving?

A 1987 Toyota MR2.

The newest car that I've ever had to drive for an extended period of time was a '91 Ford Aerostar and that didn't have that bug.

My (low-end) '97 Toyota Corolla doesn't have it. I have to spray and wipe separately.

This is the same hubris as programmers who think that their app is the most important thing in your whole life so they take over your machine, run full screen, bind program types, "help" you by forcing their idea of how to organize your data, put shortcuts where you don't want them, run on startup, insert unwanted updaters, and contribute to your bloatware pool.
In my opinion, if someone is too stupid to operate their wipers after wetting the windshield, when appropriate, they shouldn't be behind the wheel. Possibly it is a method to purposely scratch the unlubricated glass to get you to buy a new windshield more often.
As for the A/C coming on, I recommend you complain to your dealer that your car has a defect and have them "fix" it under warranty. If it costs them something, it might get the design reviewed.

Some joy, still

As a codicil, if you can pass the IQ test required to implement the procedure, you can at least turn off the automatic door locking at 5mph.
