The trip is going well.

I always forget how amazingly refreshing it is to have news that gives you FACTS, not opinions, fear mongering or sensationalism. Does anyone know of any Boston or US news program that does that? Surely someone should try to aim for that niche. No, daily show and Colbert do not count.

The big news here is that the government is appologizing for something that happened ~70 years ago. Very Canadain. (Sorry!)

Since being here all of two days I've seen almost 3x as many mazda5s as I had in the 5 months in Boston looking for them on my radar.

I don't feel like I speak the language anymore, which is making me sad. I think I've finally lost my ablity to blend in this culture.

Countdown With Keith Olbermann on MSNBC is pretty good. That is, there is some opinion but it is usually clearly labeled as such (he calls those segments "special comments"). I've never seen fearmongering. And there is ALSO a lot of silly... which I like, but some people think detracts from a serious news program. When he does celebrity stories he often says "now for a story my producers are forcing me to cover" but he also delights in showing things like bears on trampolines (in the brief "oddball" segment). Anyway, I love it and it's the closest thing to a balanced news program I think we have in this country.

If you want to go to radio, I think the news on NPR, Morning Edition and The News Hour with Jim Lehrer, are pretty good. Oh, actually I think the news hour is on television too.
