The UK gave me an automatic-only license because they don't believe me that I can drive a manual. So I've ought an automatic car with flappy paddles that can be shifted like a manual. As expected though I usually don't bother :(

I was scarred by the episode of Scarecrow and Mrs. King (possibly the pilot) when she couldn't drive the car because she didn't know how to drive manual transmission.

Mind you, it didn't help me learn how to drive stick in my teens, but thanks to [livejournal.com profile] 76trombones wonder-car I learned and now I can, although I can't navigate and drive stick at the same time, so I need to figure out my route ahead of time.

I generally prefer not to drive, but when I do drive, I have a slight preference for stick.
