What I've learned about the cello so far:

  • It uses muscles I don't have yet
  • Thumb position will be an exercise in pain unless I build calouses
  • I'm going to have to learn some tricks for my tiny little hands
  • It's a very expressive instrument. Translation: there are so many ways to make it sound horrible

I'm still having a bit of buyers regret. This is the most expensive instrument I currently own, but I also love it. it's pretty, well made and sounds so wonderful when I actually get a note right. It hurts me that I can't make it sound better. I really need to get a better bow or at least one made for the cello, but I think that will have to wait until after I do my holiday shopping. I think I need some bow buying clue first anyway. What does make a bow worth $1000 vs $10? Also, the incredibows are tempting, but a bit hard on the budget. I also need to find/make a bow case.
