Phone clue

What can people tell me about problems with buying a UK phone. The frequency differences aren't much. The UK phone is EGSM 900, GSM 1800, GSM 1900 where as a US one would be EGSM 850, GSM 1800, GSM 1900. I've never really kept track of which network is which and if this would cause me any troubles at all. I sometimes travel with my phone, but usually in the US. Can anyone help me fill this hole in my knowledge? Are there any other problems with owning a UK phone? (it would be unlocked.)

If you're on T-Mobile, you're good. T-Mo is GSM 1900. Cingular/ATT is almost all GSM 850. GSM 850 is "We took the TDMA bands we have license to use and invented a GSM band". Pretty much every phone I've had for years is a UK/Euro phone. You should be good. Whatcha getting?

I'm still impatiently lusting after the e70 because of YOU!!!! I've bene slowly convincing myself that I might be able to spend more. There has been little word on the US release.

I use T-Mobile with a 850/1800/1900 phone, but I have a spare GSM phone
for Europe travelling in case I need the 900 band.

What are you thinking of getting?
I've been reasonably happy with my combo
of a Nokia 6230 with a Palm T3, but one of these
days I'll probably want to upgrade.

I want, if I can afford, a nokia e70, which is like my 6800 but WAY happier.

I love my 6800, but I'd kind of like more memory and a camera. The flexiblity of blue tooth would be nice too.
