I think I found the economy trumpet I will get. The person has good reviews about the trumpets he sells. I'm still very undecided.

[Poll #635789]

EDIT: or maybe I should get a pocket trumpet!

I picked dark blue because I like it best but I think anything other than silver or brass would look cool. Now I want one! I still remember how to play a little and my old trumpet is in bad shape (needs welding to be playable again).

Green for a regular trumpet, or purple for a pocket one.

I fear the answer is "sketchy trumpet maker" since I can't afford a known brand, but as I've said, he's had good reviews and people are not unwilling to give "this instrumet can't keep tune and is a horrible thing" reviews. But yes, I know I'm taking a risk.

The large ones are JD Felinni & Sons (no, I don't know if hte miss spelling is that they are a forieng knock off or not) and the pocket trumpet is Cecilio.

Looking around, I'm waffling. It sounds like the feneills can be very very very very bad on ocation (lacquer in the valves) but that some people aren't minding. I might take the risk and then ask a trumpet expert if I lost or not. Or I might just try to find a nice used yamaha in plain boring brass.

Well, i'm on many trombone lists (trumpets and trombone manufacturers tend to be the same companies).

I hate to say, neither of those brands are "reputable", and i would probably recommend against them.

Here's a trumpet herald forum review of the JD Felinni and sons:

Honestly, what we say in the trombone circles is that you should buy an older used horn, maybe from ebay.
A king, bundy, bach, selmer, etc... horn can be had for about $150 if you are lucky.

I know. But what I don't get is why these sellers have almost no negative comments about their instrements. If they are so horrible, why haven't more people complained? Maybe it because anyone who would know is too smart to buy one, but I'm stilla little skepticle about that.

But yes, I should really consider a used reputable brand, but I've had luck with sketchy in the past, so I'm not completely convinced.

If I do get something sketchy, it would be nice for someone who knows what's going on to tell me just how sketchy it is, so I know how much is me and how much is the instrument.

I'm still waffling pretty badly. I'm pretty sure people would have recommened against my bass, but I love it.

Also alot of the cheaper brands have quality control issues, which is to say. not all their instruments are horrible, just some of them and if you have a good exchange policy you can get a good instruemtn with some effort.

And also, used isntruments almost always need a tune up which is another $150 and a trip to the store. I'm really bad about takign my instruments in for tunings.

All this is really telling me is that I can't afford a trumpet.

You are so motivating me to pickup an instrument again. I wonder if I can get a purple cello....
