So I don't pay much for shoes. I'm really cheap in this deparment. Paying over $30 for shoes is pretty much appauling. The one exception to this are my amazing winter boots, and I don't regret that at all.

I went searching for a new shoe, since my current shoes kind of squeeze my toes too much for me to be comfortable. I thought I would go for something light and flexible, so I looked for canvas, and because I hate short shoes, I looked for something tall. I found these:

The problem being is that they are $65-$72 depending on where I get them and there is no option for wide width. So, I thought I would 1) whine about it here 2) see if anyone has any wisdom about shoes 3) have a poll.

I fell in love with those shoes when I found them a few weeks ago.

I am not sure I ever paid so little as $30 for a pair of shoes, even as far back as grade school. I am frugal, but I have long narrow feet, so finding shoes that fit well is difficult, and they tend to be expensive. At least my shoes last a long time; I last bought shoes five years ago, and still wear shoes from almost ten years ago. I do need to look into getting a couple dressier pairs for work, and the ones I am currently considering cost $120 per pair, so those look quite the bargain. Even if I would not recommend them (definitely not my style), I think having good shoes that please you is important.

I usually really like my cheap shoes. It's mostly that my feet have become very used to no shoes or sandles. In general, I also like my shoes not lasting, since a nice fresh pair of shoes is quite nice, espeically when some of my more expensive shoes, like my Doc's in college, really needed to be resoled, yet I couldn't find anywhere to do them. My legs and feet appretiate new souls often and frehs shoes tend to make my feet smell less.

I'm a frequenter of Payless shoes. I just missed out on some VERY comfortable boots because I was too cheap to pay $25 for them. My most comfortable pair of boots ever, I bought two pirs freshman year from payless. I still wear them occationally to go out clubbing.

I guess part of my problem is that I've never found expensive shoes to make my feet all that much happier. My docs, for instance, took a long time and a lot of skin to break in.

I absoultly love my current sandles, which I think I paid $10 a pair for (I snatched up several because I know they will self destriuct.

I guess my worry with those would be that they would look like crap very quickly due to dir working its way into the fabric. Which is the same problem a lot of fancy-dress shoes have except that those don't look like fancy-dress shoes. I suppose if you were going to only wear them clubbing or to indoor parties it would be OK. But I can't see them surviving two days on salty slushy boston winter streets.

These idealy would be my non-snow non-sandle shoes. So fall and spring days.
