One of my open beta goals was to find out what it took and what you got if you made a machanical squirrel, so I was trainign up my poor human engineer slowly but surely. Then I started to check around and it turns out that you need 75 skill, which she almost has, but that the recipe is a monster drop and a rare one at that plus once you got it, you had to have two malocite, another rare (though less so) monster drop. So I went about trying my luck to get the recipe drop and I was hanging around ironforge and someone was selling them for 20s. My character had 16s 60c and a malocite, so I traded that, essentially all the money I had, for a squirrel.

So the bottom line is my character maybe destitute, but I have a mechanical squirrel!!

(the animation isn't great, since I had to compose it from non-contiguous screen shots.) Almost imediately after buying it I got three compliments on my squirrel. Now I don't have any reason to build this character up, so I'm kind of at a loss for what to do for the rest of open beta, since my other character is almost exactly what I want to end up playing and I'm fairly sure they will wipe things. What I do know is that when I play my production character, she WILL buy a squirrel.
