So this helped last time I needs a music recomendation (the juno reactor recomendation was very good.) This time, does anyone have a recomendation of something that simliar to Fallen by Evanescence? I've been quite enjoying the blend of heavy guitar with her high voice kind of soring above it. So, recommend some music to me!

Thank you, live journal.

EDIT: what's currently your favorite band/song?

Lacuna Coil does that as well, though IMO they're not nearly as good as Evanescence. If anyone else comes to mind, I'll let you know.

Dunno what I'd call my favorite song, but I'd say my favorite band is either Evanescence or Liquid Tension Experiment right now.

no idea what would be like Evanescence, but the band I keep obsessively listening to lately is Amorphis. Gothic metal from Finland. Good stuff.

I've been listening to Astralasia's "White Bird" lately. And the FLCL soundtrack, mostly by The Pillows.

You might like The Machine in the Garden. They're not often as much with the heavy guitar, but they do have good female vocals.

I trust you're familiar with Switchblade Symphony.
Purr Machine might also tickle your fancy.

Evanescence disturbs me. Christian goth. 'taint right.

Oh, I have the problem that I don't listen to lyrics, so I didn't really notice.

I don't know what Fallen is or who Evanescence? is, but that's because I ususally don't pay attention to song words, titles, or artists.

Amazingly, I do have a favorite artist at the moment. Dar Williams.

i am not too familiar with Evanescence, but Nightwish might fit your bill. they are a metal band from Finland and their singer is a woman with classical operatic training. their website has copious mp3 samples of their music. my favorite album of theirs is Wishmaster.

extreme metal bands with clean female vocals are a moderately popular subgenre although it's rare to find them without any growled vocals at all.

i'm also a big fan of Amorphis, but only their older stuff which is much more death metal than gothic. to my ears, at least.

Amorphis

well, on their old mp3.com site, which is where I found them, they had listed themselves under gothic metal. I suck at categorizing music, so I tend to just believe bands when they say what their music is :)

amorphis has been around for like 15 years now. they started as a fairly traditional death metal metal in the early 90s (with Karelian Isthmus and Tales from the Thousand Lakes) added a lot of melodic elements in the late 90s (with Elegy and Tuonela) and have now pretty much cut out all the extreme elements in favor of clean vocals and a more "gothic" character (with Am Universam and Far from the Sun). personally, i don't like anything of theirs later than Tuonela and think Elegy was their altogether best album. just mho. :) Elegy was one of the albums that actually got me into extreme metal in the first place.
