I can't get over the feeling that Stargate Atlantis is trying for the DS9 feel. Though I haven't really watched that much ds9 and there is only been two episdoes of Atlantis. But large, espansive base, with children near a wormhole... ok, it's superfical, but it still has the same feel to me.

I made the same statement about 20 minutes into the pilot.

Actually I said: "Welp, I hope they do it better than Deep Space Nine did this concept."

I figured the show was closer to ST: Voyager. "We're impossibly far away from home, can't get back, have a very mixed crew, need to struggle with unknown and nasty aliens for a long while before we finally get back home."

DS9 was actually pretty good for a few years...

I think the problem is that they're trying so hard to not get the SG-1 feel and still keep it familiar.

On the whole, though, I thought the first 2 episodes were enjoyable so I'll give it 'till the end of the season before I make up my mind.
