$20 for a night of fun ain't bad. It costs me that much to go to a club for a couple of hours and have two drinks... I haven't managed to get sucked into the poker thing yet though (I only even have a vague idea how to play).
Luck has a lot to do with winning, too, but if you want strategy hints, there are world class poker tournaments on tv. If you go for the chips and dip, and consider the poker as something to do with your hands while you spend quality time with friends, the $5 is a good bargain for a night of fun and bonding.
What with so few sucesses in my life, it wasn't fun to loose so miserably. I think I would have had more fun lossing it to slots, if it weren't a home game, because then, at least, it's not because I'm bad at the game.
