Kaylee and an emergency vet visit
Mar. 10th, 2024 07:32 pmKaylee started limping (back left foot, I think) suddenly with no indication of a fall or injury. I did some quick checks on her, some quick research. It wasn't getting better and she was meowing when putting weight on it. I phoned the 24 hour vet to ask if I should bring her. They didn't have any strong advice. Since she's being treated for kidney issues and back leg weakness is a sign that it's progressed, I think I was overly worried. That and because it had no cause that we knew of.
I took her in, and she got triaged and then we waited. By the time the vet saw her, the mix of adrenaline and time meant she was mostly walking ok. The vet did some range of motion checks, felt for physical issues, and other quick physical assessments.
They gave us some pain and sedation medication.
Now at home she's walking better than when I took her in, but she's still favoring it.
Maybe I over reacted, I'm not sure. Maybe I should have waited long to see if it would resolve itself.
