I want a replicating machine, so that when my perfect, beloved clothing , like my dancing boots and my swimming suit bite the big one, I can just have a brand new pair, exactly like that, made for me.

Silly people, why can't they stop when an item is perfect for ME!!! so it will be the same when I need to buy it again when it wears out?

And even when they DO still make the same thing as before, odds are good that they'll have changed it so that it's NOT the same - Levi's been using cheaper and cheaper fabric over the years, for example.

But I know a number of people who've bought N of something when they find a model they like so that they'll have the something around for years and years.

I'ts always hard to tell before hand what I will love. This bathsuit, for instance, we bought somewhere odd as an emergancy. I also think it was somewhat costly (~$35.) I have sometimes bought extra, I always seem to forget that I've done that by the time the item wears out, or forget where I'm storing the extra, or in the case of the dancing shoes, I only bought three pairs when I should have bought 6.
