I signed up for Japanese from ccae. I fear it might be a horrible awful no good corse, after what happed with into to voice, but I figure if it will get me thinking about Japanese and get me over my fear of saying the few words I do know, then it won't be a complete loss... I hope.

EDIT: it starts January 10th.

What went wrong with the intro to voice course? I keep looking at that (and a lot of their cooking and craft classes) and then being too lame to actually sign up.

She didn't give enough feed back that was useful to me. If you want to excercise your voice once a week and learn folk songs, it's a fine class, but I found it only marginally useful and didn't go to the last two classes. She was trying to hard to be positive and I wasn't getting the information I needed to work on my voice at home. She basically told me "breathe more often" and nothing else.

In the language class R and I took, we found that we were really smart. (Yeah, OK, no surprise given our alma mater, but you have the same one, so there it is.) But it was neat to get to speak, and I didn't find it intimidating (though she did, somewhat, due to initial icebreakers that were not well-matched with her personality), and I learned stuff, and so did she. Also, there were cute lesbians.

Best of luck with your studies!

I need to find a decent class, but there's basically nothing in Austin... I just study on my own (after four years of classes in high school). Apparently the instructors at the Austin Community College aren't even native speakers. I've started idly looking into immersion classes in Japan, but that's a big step.
