pooh pooh on you, nikon

I took photos today in raw format to get the most data and apparently nikon has some propietary tiff format that gimp can't read. I'm now in the process of fixing that, but how annoying!

EDIT: I found a gimp plug in, but now I foudn out i was in the wrong iso for the pictures. bleh.

Raw formats (nef for Nikon) are all proprietary at this point. Most image editing programs have readers or plugins for reading these.

Which camera do you have? I usually shoot in Raw+B which saves both an NEF and a Jpg, so I can use the jpg for most things and have the raw for when I want to fiddle with the image. It takes up more space, but SD cards are pretty cheap these days.

D80.

I didn't see a combo way to shoot. Perhaps because my camera is a generation old.

In the quality setting (There's a QUAL button, right? I can't remember the d80 too well) there should be one there.

I was looking at this page for for guidance. http://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/D80/D80MENUS.HTM

Awesome! Thanks. I completely missed that.
