V
Apparently a sequal mini-series to V is in production and they've signed on all the old actors, including Robert Englund for Willie... I'm not quite sure what I think of that, but I really did like that character in my memmory (V, I've decided, is not something you watch again in modern times.) There have been some good remakes, so perhaps it's a hopeful thing. We'll see. t

I remember liking it a good bit when it was originally on the air. But I agree, there is no way that the original would be watchable these days.
Out of curiosity...
Yes, the V mini-series was a story about an alien invasion, but it was also a story about government denigration of science, and just how fast the police state can come on once it gets rolling, and all sort of other messages that seem like they'd carry forward. The evil alien empire was mostly played by humans with no makeup, and just some sunglasses indicating they were evil.
Special effects have changed a lot since V aired. But has acting and writing really improved since then? Not that V upheld amazing acting or writing standards or anything, but I'm just comparing it to whatever miniseries airs on ABC/CBS/NBC next week and wondering what's unwatchable.

I have a well known tolerance in that area, so I can watch things I saw long long ago and for many of them, still like them as I did then. The others I inflict these movies on never seem to agree though... ;-)
