I wonder what would happen...

to the US average weight if ads showing food were removed from TV for a month.

Oo, I'd love to see that experiment done. Though maybe more for a year than for a month.

I bet we're not too far away from being able to edit away food ads from our viewing pleasure though.

Sorry, severely anti-TV here. I guess the real issue is to stay constantly aware of the timesuck from watching as well as the constant bombardment of advertising and propaganda.

Well and there is a huge spectrum between a show on the history of the bessemer process and a reality show where you stick 10 superficial teenagers in a house watch.

My favorite shows are the nerdy ones.

There are many reasons to hate TV and more every day. But it's just an abused tool, just like video games or the internet.

Though I should really read more about the studies that found that TV activates the parts of the brain resposnible for dream and how is messes with those chemicals.
