Why does wearing nail polish make me feel older?

Because you're in your mother's bedroom, standing on the tips of your toes to get it, and using it without her permission?

That's my best guess 8)

Nope. My mother mostly owned nail polish for paining metal things.

Her nails are metal?

I think I'm scared of your mom now. Remind me not to face her in a sword battle

Because you remember it from Gramma Bell?
Because it is a visible sign that you don't have to use your hands?
Because you only do it when you are participating in grup activities?
Because you associate it with lipstick?

Nail polish makes a nice touch-up paint for scratches in cars, appliances, tools, and motorcycles, it is a good material for sealing Lettraset (if you change the wiring on your stovetop, for instance, and need to relabel the switches), and it is good for stopping runs in nylons.
