someone teach me a hip drop?

I tried a belly dancing fitness video today. It was kind of fun and taught me a few exercises I really wanted to know. (like how to do inner thigh toning without extra machinery and without putting strain on my knees.)

Now I want to be able to do the moves correctly in the video, which means that I need to find somoene to teach me how to do a hip drop.

i can probably do that. or at least try. assuming i'm doing it correctly, which is a vast assumption 'cause the instructor for the belly dancing class i took wasn't exactly useful.

hmm...dunno what area you guys are in exactly, but if you're near enough to the boston area i'd suggest taking classes with the goddess dancing (site is http://www.thegoddessdancing.com ) or getting their video whenever it comes out. they're really, really good teachers...otherwise i don't have suggestions since, while i could definitely teach you hip drops, i don't know you and you don't know me^.^ plus we may be on opposite coasts or something...(only reason i found you was because of a comment you posted on plymouth's journal about her yummy new outfit *grin*)

Nope, I'm right here in Somerville.

The problem is that I don't have a lot of spending money being unemployed, so taking classes isn't likely to happen any time soon. Anyway I'd rather take Japanese and voice lessons first.

Perhaps sometime that xta is in the boston area and she sees us both in the same place at the same time she can introduce us.

sounds reasonable. yeah, would be cool to meet you^.^ unfortunately i'm just 18 so it likely won't be at manray unless you go on a wednesday for some unknown and unknowable reason. hehehehehe...even customer appreciation night was practically empty in comparison to what i've heard...

My problem is I liked to be walked to my car, since I got held up near there once. I'm happy to exchange rides for being walked to my car.

me, i don't drive. yet (learning). so i either have to rope friends into going and giving me a ride home, or leave around midnight. but that'd be cool, i'd gladly walk you to your car in exchange for a ride^.^ now we just gotta see about getting introduced or meeting in a safe way beforehand, lol...

DDR, eh? yeah...i've tried it, i like it well enough, i suck at it, so i prefer other dance forms^.^

hmmm...i dunno. are you a furry? the way she and i met was because a mutual friend had a furry "camping" weekend and she was there. lol, i don't even know if *she's* a furry...but it was cool meeting her nonetheless.

The MIT game room has DDR. I'm a bit DDR crazy though, so if it's not your thing, it's likely not a good idea.

I suck at other dance forms. I have very little sylte or grace and learn slowly so having machine teach me skills is better than a human instructor.

lol...i dunno. i just have very little coordination when it comes to a mega-sized number pad. i don't think i'm quite ready to give it a try at MIT *laughs and a sheepish grin*

hmmm...machine teach you? do videos count? cuz seriously, the goddess dancing tape is coming out in october i believe. and they are phenomenal. i don't know what the tape will be like but...i'm assuming...
