good wrong and bad wrong

Why is the Rebuilding the wall (the blue grass version of the wall) the good kind of wrong, but this:

is the bad kind of wrong.

Well, quite independent of the fact they're both covering Comfortably Numb, there's a huge difference in quality between the two songs, at least according to my tastes.

Yeah, pretty much.

The SS version seems to bear almost no musical relation to the original - just the lyrics, and the falsetto thing's just annoying.

If the bluegrass version is the thing crs has on his iPod, it's also wrong in my book.

The Wall holds sufficient emotional content for me and my contemporaries that off-genre covers of it can come across as very, very wrong. Think of a valley girl covering Tracy Chapman.

If you ignore the lyric of Scissor Sisters you hear B-side BeeGees and it isn't wrong anymore.
