likely no kitten

I've been still hoping we could get a kitten, despite Kaylee's health condition, so we brought out the RFID cat feeder. She had no problem eating out of it when it was off, but once we put it in learning mode, she became afraid of it. A life time of being yelled at for eating other cat's food and just being naturally skittish means I don't think she's going to get over it. Since it's more important she eats, I pulled her food out of it and moved it away, to make sure she's not scared. I put some treats it in and kept it in learning mode in hopes she might get used to it, but it's a slim hope.
She doesn't seem to be lonely as a single cat, but given how she plays at night, I think a kitten might have been some welcome stimulation for her.
Hard to know for sure, and it is moot if we can't make sure we can feed her the special diet.
